According to experts, the more we immerse ourselves in the digital age, the more we have to worry about account security and the safety of our private data.
Dealing with data security breaches
The digital age has brought a wealth of benefits, but those benefits often come with their own risks. Last year, breaches at big names across multiple industries left millions of customers’ information, including email addresses, IP addresses, payment details, and more, exposed to malicious actors.
This trend of data breaches has only continued since then, with one of the most recent affecting 4.6 million Neiman Marcus customers. Experts say that data breaches are unlikely to go away anytime soon, despite the push to change consumer privacy.
“What we used to do physically, we now do digitally more than ever before: shopping, banking, working, and socializing across devices, apps, and sites. While the digitization of these activities has brought many benefits to most, it also creates security risks that criminals are exploiting,” Hari Ravichandran, founder and CEO of Aura, a digital security company, told Lifewire in an email.
