Don't waste your money on unused RAM
DDR4 vs DDR5: What's the Difference and Should You Upgrade?
Most people don’t think much about RAM. After all, it’s not as sexy as the CPU or GPU. For the most part, all people care about is having enough of it for their needs. The truth is, RAM is much more than just raw capacity.
Improvements in memory technology are a big part of why computer performance is so good. The fastest CPU in the world can only run at a snail’s pace if it’s being fed by slow, outdated RAM. As of this writing, there are three types of RAM to consider when building or buying a computer.
There’s DDR3, which is over a decade old but is still in many computers in use today. And then there’s DDR4, the current standard for new computers. DDR5 isn’t in a computer you can buy yet, but the standard was officially released in mid-2020.
