The del command is a command prompt command used to delete files. There are several command options available, allowing you to delete files with a specific file extension, delete every file in a folder, delete only the files with certain file attributes, and more.

Unlike normal file deletion, the data deleted using the del command does not end up in the Recycle Bin.
The del command is available through the Command Prompt in Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP operating systems.
You can also use it in the Command Prompt in the Advanced Boot Options and System Recovery Options recovery menus.
