Following Sony's reversal of plans to require PSN account linking on PC, Helldivers 2 players have been flooding the game with positive reviews. In just one day, Helldivers 2's Steam rating has gone from overwhelmingly negative to mixed, with 61,940 positive reviews as of May 6.
Helldivers 2 – For FREEDOM & DEMOCRACY! 🔥🤟🏼💯
The Helldivers 2 community stood together to protest Sony’s mandatory PSN account linking policy, and their collective action – in the form of review bombing – sent a clear message to the publisher. Now, following Sony’s statement confirming that the plans have been canceled, the community is working together to turn their negative reviews into positive ones. One Steam review reads, “Democracy has triumphed,” and many others agree.
A post from the Helldivers 2 Discord server states that Sony's mandatory PSN to Steam account linking policy was intended to improve player safety and enjoyment. However, the rollout did not go as planned. Helldivers 2 was removed from Steam in 177 countries where PSN is not available, significantly limiting access to the game worldwide.
At the time of writing, the number of positive reviews has risen to a record high of 76,767 since the game's release in February, and this trend is likely to continue.
