The Denon AVRX6400H is an iterative improvement over Denon’s earlier AVRX6300H, sharing the same exterior and much of the same innards, but packing a bunch of new components and features. This 11.2-channel receiver is packed with features, including HEOS compatibility and Auro3D support, and is powerful enough to drive every speaker in your setup without the need for external amplifiers.

The Denon AVR6400H is the quintessential modern AVR from the outside. It’s a big black box, with the emphasis on big, and the front of the unit is about as minimalist as you’re likely to find. There are two chunky adjustment knobs, a power button, a large display, and a flip-down lid that hides a bunch of other controls. The lid’s operation is buttery smooth, which helps convey a premium feel that belies the premium cost of this unit.
