Destiny 2 gameplay has been stagnant for a while; however, it’s clear that the game has ambitious plans for the future with The Final Shape. Below, I’ll explain what exotic class items are and how they’re used.
Destiny 2: Dual Destiny Guide – How to Unlock Exotic Class Items
During the Final Shape Developer Gameplay Preview, Destiny 2 developers revealed a brand-new subclass that combines the powers of Light and Darkness as Guardians pursue the Witness into the Pale Heart of the Traveler. The Prismatic subclass will combine multiple elements to create an advanced subclass with increased customization options, additional fragments, and fragment slots.

Players can also obtain an exotic class item to complement it. The exotic class item will randomly roll two exotic perks from other existing exotics, even ones that weren't originally intended for your character's class. So, Hunter's cloaks, Titan's marks, and Warlock's bonds will all have random exotic-level perks borrowed from each other, taking the customizability to a whole new level. Titans will be able to use Hunter perks, and Warlocks will steal from Hunters – the possibilities are endless.
