The usual marathon of pre-expansion error codes and server issues has officially begun. Destiny 2’s servers went offline today for The Final Shape, leaving no room for any last-minute activities before the expansion resets tomorrow.
Hunters are just better
Server maintenance windows are a regular feature of nearly every Destiny 2 update, with servers often taking down a few hours before a hotfix. With seasons and expansions, however, that maintenance window extends far beyond a few hours, with The Final Shape in particular taking servers down for 25 hours, as confirmed by Bungie.
Extended maintenance windows leading up to expansions aren’t exactly new to Destiny 2 players, especially recently. The game’s previous expansion, Lightfall, launched after a 24-hour server downtime, a fate it shared with The Final Shape.
Players attempting to launch the game until then are receiving a variety of messages, including error code CAT. The game will be offline until the daily reset on Tuesday, June 4, at which point players may receive the usual message "Destiny 2 is temporarily at capacity" due to server queues.
