Devil May Cry 5 is exactly what you'd expect, with plenty of hacks and slashes and a beautifully woven story that lays down the building blocks as you progress. Devil May Cry 5 will seem like overkill to anyone playing it for the first time, but the game grows on you as you continue to play.
Devil May Cry 5 review | Expectations exceeded 100%
You’ll quickly see the poetry in motion as you take your favorite characters, Dante, Nero, and V, out to decimate the insects and demons crawling through the city; the game forces you to build combos and hit your enemies with as many attacks in your arsenal as possible. Rate each fight from ‘D’ for Dismal to SSS for ‘Smokin’ Sexy Style!’.
The game certainly seems over the top, but this is also where it excels. It is all of those things and more. The more you play Devil May Cry 5, the more you will think about it and go back to finish the storyline.
There’s a sense of freedom in the kind of movements you can make; with blood splattered everywhere and demons being slaughtered, it feels like a fantasy film. The game redeems itself in many ways in these moments of pure gore with a flair for exaggerated dialogue, superhero poses and brooding looks.
