Diablo 4 players today praised Blizzard for skipping the early access pass for Vessel of Hatred, the game's first major DLC expansion. However, many feared they'd go down that path again with special editions.
100% Worth It – D4 Expansion Details Explained – Vessel of Hatred
When Diablo 4 first launched, players were upset that only those with the Digital Deluxe Edition or higher were given four days of early access. This meant that players could experience new content earlier and gain an advantage. Many players found this to be an unpleasant “money-grab” approach from the devs that only benefited those who could afford to spend more money. Surprisingly, there are no early access benefits in any of the Vessel of Hatred editions, and players are calling this a huge win.
If you already own Diablo 4, you have three options for pre-ordering Vessel of Hatred: the standard, deluxe, and ultimate editions. None of these editions offer early access, and neither does the Diablo 4 plus Vessel of Hatred bundle, which is available for those who haven’t purchased the base game. In lieu of early access, pre-order rewards range from pets to platinum to cosmetics, meaning everyone will be starting off on the same footing when Vessel of Hatred launches on October 8.
Despite the lack of early access perks, players are debating the value of the editions. While people can spend their hard-earned money however they want, players are already being bashed for dropping $90 on the ultimate edition just for all the cute cosmetics, platinum, and the battle pass token. To be fair, the cosmetics are cute, but it’s Hratli the dog pet that convinced me to buy the more expensive edition because he looks like my own dog.
