Disable Aero in Windows 7
In Windows Vista and Windows 7, the older Luna interface was replaced with a new default theme/interface called Aero. Aero uses a number of features, such as translucent windows and title bars, live thumbnails, and other eye candy to create a more pleasant experience for users.
The problem with Aero (and other compositing window managers) is that it is quite resource intensive. This means that computer users with less powerful graphics cards, or those who want to squeeze every frame of performance out of their system (important when playing games, for example), may want to disable Aero temporarily or permanently.
Fortunately, it’s not too difficult to get rid of many of the resource-hungry features. Below are two ways to get rid of Aero, one that disables it completely and one that disables it per application.
