Gaming is full of redemptive arcs and tragedies. No Man’s Sky may be the poster child for a successful comeback, while flops like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Payday 3 could easily fade into obscurity.
Why Warframe Will ALWAYS Be Better Than Destiny 2!
Destiny 2 fans have been torn between two sides in recent years, with Bungie’s golden goose seemingly overachieving, only to collapse months later. The Witch Queen was a peak for the franchise in early 2022, but its sequel Lightfall missed revenue projections by 45 percent and pushed the studio into a deep hole. Even this year’s miraculous The Final Shape can’t wash away the taste of a second, more brutal wave of studio layoffs and the prospect of bloodless content to come.
It’s hard to blame Destiny 2 players for leaving. Morale is at an all-time low, and it has been at “all-time lows” multiple times in recent years. The game’s reported new content plan could sound the death knell, and Guardians may be looking to Warframe for a spiritual successor.
The occasional bickering between fans of the two titles has been going on for years, sometimes with a misplaced rivalry between these camps. The grim future of Destiny 2 brought some of this antagonism back to the surface, but this old conflict is long gone.
