The era of password sharing is over and even Disney wants you to create your own account.

Disney Plus Password Sharing Campaign Starts September 2024 – IGN The Fix: Entertainment

In an interview with CNBC, Disney CEO Bob Iger said that Disney Plus plans to take a tougher approach to password sharing “in a few countries” starting in June. In September, it will expand that to all the countries it serves. Initially, that means suspicious-looking credentials will get a pop-up message telling them to create their own subscription.

This isn’t a new initiative from Disney. New subscription policies banning password sharing were rolled out to new subscribers in January and to existing subscribers last month. Now it appears Disney is getting serious about enforcing those policies.

The move comes just weeks after Disney announced a partnership with Hulu, giving subscribers access to both Disney Plus and Hulu for one monthly subscription fee. At the time of writing, that fee is $9.99 per month. If you want to add ESPN+ to the mix, you can get all three services for $14.99 per month.
