Mindy Kaling was the host of the evening and joked that she "outed" Kamala Harris as Indian by making a cooking video on Instagram in 2019.
“I truly believe that as a woman of color and a single mother of three, I find it incredible that I am being appointed ambassador to Italy,” Kaling said. “Isn’t that how it works?”
