Experts say good net neutrality rules are more important than ever as the world becomes increasingly digital, following the passage of Ajit Pai's FCC.

Net neutrality has been a concern for many over the past four years. Now that former Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai has stepped down, companies like Mozilla are pushing President Joe Biden and the new FCC commissioner to create stronger rules to prevent internet service providers (ISPs) from gaining too much control over our internet use.
“For example, imagine if an ISP wanted to force adoption of its video calling tool, and in doing so throttled or even blocked the bandwidth of competing video conferencing tools. Or if an ISP wanted to support adoption of its video streaming platform, and throttled the traffic of a competing streaming company,” Kaili Lambe, a senior U.S. campaigner at Mozilla, told Lifewire via email.
“This would be incredibly frustrating, especially during a global pandemic when we all rely heavily on an open internet, an internet with equal access and no fast lanes to the content that ISPs want to prioritize to make a profit.”
