It seems like a dumb question. After all, why would the latest Black Ops, with its renewed emphasis on real-world history, have something as over-the-top and ridiculous as zombies? Especially considering we’ve been as over-the-top as we can be with the flying squids and multi-verse nonsense. So, will Cold War have zombies? Well, the answer is…
Probably. But in what form, we don’t know yet. A full reveal is scheduled for August 26th, so we’ll have to wait until then to find out if the solo campaign will get its own Zombies mode or if it’ll be something like a limited-time event in Warzone.
Activision has been dropping small hints about an upcoming Black Ops title for a while now that, in retrospect, explain the previously unexplained secret bunkers and Russian codebreakers in Warzone. It appears that the new story will focus on the height of the Cold War and the behind-the-scenes espionage games that took place between the United States and the Soviet Union.
The trailer above focuses on a real-life Russian defector, Yuri Bezmenov, and a 1984 interview in which he warned American viewers about the dangers of what he saw as a not-so-Cold War. The teaser also alludes to an enigmatic figure from World War II and the Cold War, the Russian spy known only as "Perseus" who is believed to be responsible for the theft of nuclear weapons science related to the Manhattan Project — you know, the project that gave us the bomb. You know, that bomb.
