Privacy has always been a concern for the end user. No one wants the contents of their email to be exposed to third parties, or worse, their IP address and location. At WWDC 2021, Apple introduced a new privacy feature for Apple Mail that hides your device’s IP addresses, preventing senders from tracking when your email is read and by whom.
How to Track the Location of an Email Address – Find Email Location in Gmail
But what about Gmail? It would be incredibly difficult for anyone to find out your location and IP address just by opening an email. Well, it is, for the most part.
Gmail doesn’t give up your information that easily. In fact, when you send an email, the IP address you get from the email headers is not your IP address, but a Google server. So you don’t have to worry about that.
Even if someone were to find an IP address that wasn’t a Google server, they’d really only have the IP address of an ISP, nothing more. Any location that could be tied to that IP address would correspond to where the ISP is, not where you are. People can use email trackers to fish out the details, though.
