Doppler is a nice, simple music playing app for Mac, and works in conjunction with the existing iPhone app. For people who are overwhelmed by the default Music app, it's perfect.

For years, Mac users have complained about iTunes, hoping for a simpler, less bloated replacement. In a textbook example of "be careful what you wish for," iTunes' replacement was worse. Even the name, Music, is confusing. Doppler is a glimpse of an alternate future in which Apple puts the user experience first, rather than trying to entice people to sign up for Apple Music subscriptions.
“Apple has merged its Apple Music service with the core functionality of its music library player with the aim of pushing users to use Apple Music,” Mac app developer Edward Brawer told Lifewire via email. “There’s no doubt this impacts the user experience, as pushing users to use Apple Music is important to Apple.”
Doppler is the Mac version of the existing Doppler app for iPhone, and the two can work together. There are no music subscriptions or streaming in the app. Doppler is old school, an app that plays MP3, AAC, and other audio files on your Mac’s hard drive or SSD. That simplicity makes it a joy to use. But don’t think it’s feature-free. It only has the features you need.
