Valve released a small update in late June that addresses a particularly nasty Meepo bug involving the duplication of neutral items, which has been exploited by hundreds of players in both ranked and normal modes over the past few days.
W33 [Meepo] The real Meepo master shows his skills Dota 2
The June 30 update to Dota 2 included a lone note from Valve: “The exploits caused by Warlock’s facet, Meepo’s facet, Witch Doctor, and illusions have been fixed.” This update comes as Dota players have been flooding social media demanding answers after a glitch was discovered that allowed Meepo to combo with other heroes and their unique neutral items to gain a significant gold or experience advantage.
In short, the bug affects multiple players and certain heroes, specifically Meepo and his Hero Facet Pack Rat, which allows Meepo to equip regular items into his neutral item slot. With a full inventory, the Meepo player will disconnect, meaning other players can take control of the hero. While disconnected, any Meepo clone can use the Manta Style, which drops multiple copies of the item that can then be sold.
This goes for every Illusion and Copy, meaning those who exploited it earned thousands upon thousands of gold for the team that was able to pick up and sell every Manta Style. This exploit is likely the main reason Meepo's win rate increased by seven percent, according to Dotabuff.
