Dota 2 players are getting restless as they wait for the Crownfall patch. Crownfall’s arrival, originally promised for the first quarter of 2024, has been a rollercoaster of anticipation and delay. After teasing a mid-April release, Valve posted a blog post today, sending shivers down the spines of eager fans, only to reveal a 118-page comic.

I love DOTA2. But this could be the end. Here's why…

Featuring the Dark Skywrath Mage and the winged Vengeful Spirit as Arcana skins, the comic has undoubtedly fueled hype for the upcoming patch. However, some Dota 2 players have expressed frustration, fearing that Valve would use the lore dump to delay Crownfall again.

Beneath the fantastic artwork and lore nuggets, the comic may be subtly hinting at Crownfall's arrival with its title "Ascension Date." A quick internet search reveals a corresponding date: May 9th, a Thursday that conveniently coincides with Valve's usual patch release schedule. Patience may be wearing thin, but the cryptic clues and Valve's historical release patterns suggest the wait may finally be over.

It’s also worth noting that Dota 2 comics are a rare treat. The last one graced the community in 2023 with the release of Muerta, with previous ones dating back to 2020 and 2018. Patches that follow comic releases often prove to be colossal, both in terms of content and changes. Given that Dota 2 hasn’t received a major patch in 2024, this one is expected to shake the game to its core.
