Despite the recent news of Arkane Austin’s closure, the developer announced on Friday that one final update would be released for its hero shooter Redfall. This update adds a host of new features, including the much-requested offline play mode.
Redfall – The Latest Update
On the official Redfall X account, the studio announced that it would be releasing Update 4, the game's final patch. It is said to include "revamped Neighborhood and Nest systems, Single Player Pausing, Offline Mode, and more." Although Redfall launched as an online-only title, several players have been asking for the game to be playable offline since launch.
This news comes as no surprise, as an earlier report from IGN stated that an update that would add offline functionality was already in development as part of the game's post-launch content roadmap. However, following the announcement that the studio would be closing, many speculated that it would not receive any further updates.
Additionally, the Hero Pass, which would have added two new heroes, was canceled due to the studio’s closure, and players who purchased the title were supposed to receive “make-up gifts.” It looks like the much-requested feature will be launching after all, along with the new ability to pause the game, which is likely now possible thanks to the offline functionality.
