DuckDuckGo aims to minimize as much data as possible for people using the internet (unlike some other companies). This new service is designed to further limit the amount of personal information that can be sold online.
DuckDuckGo Privacy Pro: Remove your information from the internet
DuckDuckGo announced the new service, called Privacy Pro, in a blog post on Thursday. It's a subscription service that combines the DuckDuckGo privacy VPN with its Personal Information Removal and Identity Theft Restoration features for a single monthly or annual subscription price.
The DuckDuckGo VPN is what you'd expect from the privacy browser company. It's anonymous and doesn't log your online activity. And with the Privacy Pro subscription, you can protect up to five devices, "anytime, anywhere."
The next service, Personal Information Removal, looks for your personal information on data broker sites and then removes that information. The data in question can include your name, address, and other personal information that is used to create a complete picture of you. DuckDuckGo checks data broker sites for the data and requests that it be removed for the duration of your subscription.
