There are some games that you would rather forget about the first time you play them. For me, Elden Ring is one of those games, and after nearly 50 hours of Shadow of the Erdtree, I can happily say that it evokes that exact same feeling.

The Elden Ring expansion isn’t without its flaws, but it’s well crafted and a joy to explore. It’s impressively expansive, packed to the brim with secrets, and enchantingly beautiful from start to finish. From the moment I set foot in the Land of Shadow, I was awestruck by the beautiful scenery and captivated by the world, but most impressive of all is the sheer scale of what’s on offer.
Let's start with the elephant in the room: how big is Shadow of the Erdtree? The Elden Ring expansion was two years in the making, and FromSoftware has a reputation for overdelivering, so it's understandable if you're expecting something gigantic.
And if that's the case, you'd be right. The Land of Shadow is so big, and there's so much to explore, that I wouldn't be surprised if it's the single largest piece of post-launch content ever. It's roughly the size of two regions from the base game, and it easily rivals full-blown open-world games in size and scope. FromSoftware should be commended for the sheer scale of Shadow of the Erdtree alone.
