Emilia Clarke has been cast in a lead role in the spy thriller “Ponies,” which has been ordered straight to series at Peacock.

The series comes from co-creators Susanna Fogel ("The Flight Attendant," "The Spy Who Dumped Me") and David Iserson, with Clarke set to star as well as serve as an executive producer.

The official description of the series reads:

“Moscow, 1977. Two “PONIES” (“persons of no interest” in intelligence jargon) work anonymously as secretaries in the American embassy. That is, until their husbands are mysteriously murdered in the USSR, and the pair become CIA agents. Bea (Clarke) is an over-educated, Russian-speaking child of Soviet immigrants. Her cohort, Twila, is a small-town girl who is as aggressive as she is fearless. Together, they work to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that left them widowed in the first place.”
