Finding the right charger can take up a large part of the afternoon, but Europe is putting an end to this particular 21st century problem.
The iPhone USB-C Law: Explained!
After a decade of debate, the EU has passed legislation that will make USB-C chargers the mandatory standard for smartphones from 2024, the European Parliament announced in a press release.
The legislation covers Apple products, potentially forcing the company to replace its proprietary Lightning port with a standard USB-C port. In addition to smartphones, the ruling also applies to other gadgets such as tablets, e-readers, cameras, game consoles and more.
Laptops are also in the sights of this ruling, but a later and unknown time frame applies to these.
