Apple's Mac Music app is getting a lot better.
8 Features Apple Music Does Better Than Spotify
When tech enthusiast and music lover Dave B emailed Tim Cook to complain about the state of the Music app on the Mac, he didn’t expect a response. But his email turned into a phone call with “someone in Tim Cook’s office,” and Cook forwarded Dave B’s advice to the Music design team, which must have made them very happy. In related news, the latest macOS Monterey beta includes a rebuilt Music app that could solve many of Dave B’s issues.
"The problem here is that unless you're looking for a well-known artist, you're just not going to find it," Chris Anderson, founder of the lifestyle company and music fan, told Lifewire via email. "Once you find your favorite songs and compile them into a playlist, instead of a seamless flow, there's an annoying pause between songs, sometimes lasting several seconds, which breaks the flow. Finally, the app is slow to load, and if you want to see the album art, you're best off putting the kettle on while you wait for it to download, assuming it loads at all."
Before the Music app, there was iTunes, and it, too, was unpopular. For years, iTunes was attacked on various Mac forums for being bloated, slow, and for trying to cram in too many features. It wasn’t just the hub for music, movies, TV shows, and podcasts, but also the way to manage apps on your iPhone, and more.
