From batteries to new EV models, concepts and the e-commerce market, GM made a lot of announcements on the second day of CES 2021. The company’s goal is “zero accidents, zero emissions and zero congestion.” That all sounds ambitious, but Tuesday’s announcements prove the company is on the right track.
“We are at a point where we are moving away from reliance on gas-powered cars to an all-electric future,” GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra said during Tuesday’s keynote address.
Behind every electric vehicle is a reliable and innovative electric battery, and GM announced its newest battery, the Ultium, at CES. The battery cells produce 60% more energy capacity than existing electric battery cells thanks to a flat rectangular pouch design, which allows for higher energy density in a smaller space and requires less wiring.
