A former employee of Kick has posted a video detailing her complaints against the company, criticising staff for racism, homophobia and 'consistent disrespect'.
Tackling homophobes in Miami… #shorts
Kick, a streaming company that aims to compete with popular fan broadcasting platforms like Twitch and YouTube, has developed a mixed reputation in recent years, particularly after hiring several controversial figures. Now, Kick’s employees are under fire after a former staffer, who says she resigned in May, alleges that other staff members mistreated her, disrespected streamers and “consistently” used hate speech in the office.
After announcing her resignation from the site on X (formerly Twitter), Melissa claimed she had been served with a cease and desist order. Instead of complying with the request, she filmed a YouTube video in which she aired her grievances with certain employees. In the June upload, she detailed how the impetus for her resignation came when “flexible work arrangements were revoked” because they made it difficult to pick up family from school.
In addition to the sudden removal of her work regulations, she suggested that certain employees would casually use offensive language in the office, such as homophobic or racial slurs. She claimed that this hate speech was "specifically targeted at people it was perceived to discriminate against," and that she never saw the employees being punished for their actions.
