Using public Wi-Fi has always been a risky business. That’s why ExpressVPN just released a new portable Wi-Fi router with a built-in VPN.
ExpressVPN Aircove GO VPN Travel Router: How to Set Up and Review
The Aircove Go is ExpressVPN’s latest addition to its Aircove line of VPN routers. The Wi-Fi 6 router is about the size of your palm, according to the company’s announcement, and features a built-in VPN. It also has both LAN and WAN Ethernet ports and offers dual-band coverage (2.4GHz/5GHz) in addition to Wi-Fi 6.
Despite the Ethernet ports, the new router, which ExpressVPN says is “ideal for travel,” doesn’t require an Ethernet connection. You can use the router over a Wi-Fi connection, even for networks that have a “captive portal” that requires you to sign in (think of using hotel Wi-Fi, where you have to enter your room number to access the network).
"Many of us rely on public Wi-Fi to get work done, update social media, and stay in touch with loved ones. While useful, public Wi-Fi networks are by nature open to anyone. As a result, they are typically less secure and private than your home network. We built Aircove Go to solve that, allowing you to take your home network with you on the go and keep your online activities secure wherever you go, even on public Wi-Fi," said David Gilbert, product manager for Aircove in the press release sent to Lifewire.
