The Fortnite fandom has found a surprising ally in the fight against power-ups, with Doja Cat joining the ongoing battle with an epic and super-complete blast that saw the “Paint the Town Red” singer call anyone who uses the mechanic “losers.”
Doja Cat plays “Little Nightmares” for the first time
Major game developers rarely take immediate action after a celebrity rants about feature imbalances they're facing, but the pop star's explosive tirade may be an exception; Doja Cat took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday to declare it "f—king embarrassing" that Fortnite still allows waterbending and Chains of Hades in its main playlists, adding that she simply wanted to join "lobbies where people with real aiming skills and FPS experience don't have to deal with losers [using the skills]."
Ironically, Chains was released mere hours later, though its unavailability is more likely due to a confirmed game-breaking bug than Doja Cat's epic X-rant.
Regardless, the removal prompted almost immediate celebrations from both Doja’s camp and the broader Fortnite community, many of whom called on Epic to “remove waterbending” from ranked games. If that’s not possible, many continued, they’d like to see separate lobbies, one for those who enjoy the FPS side of Fortnite and “a separate mode for all the extra sh*t”—exactly what Doja Cat demanded.
