In F1 2024, you can play through the career as your favourite driver from the past and present, with the latter screaming in your ear with authentic audio from real-life events. Speaking at a preview event attended by Dot Esports, F1 2024’s senior creative director Lee Mather said that they had wanted to add authentic driver voiceovers to the franchise “for a long time” but that it “hadn’t really been a hit” because the career mode was focused on player-created drivers.
Now that players can control their favorite drivers on the track and lead them to victory, the developer felt the need to add voiceovers to the game. Voice lines are played at various points during the race as reactions to accidents, overtakes, incidents and the end of the race.
We heard a number of the voicelines during the preview, including Lewis Hamilton thanking the team, Max Verstappen discussing a wet race in Monaco and Lando Norris shouting “Vamos” after a successful race. There will be more when F1 2024 launches on May 31.
