Facebook Messenger is testing a new feature, Split Payments, that lets you split payments between your friends and family.
Facebook Messenger has a new feature to split bills
According to the announcement, Split Payments is intended to make covering the cost of bills and other expenses easier and faster. You can split payments equally or customize the amount for each person in your group.
Payment details are detailed in a Messenger group chat. Split Payments will roll out to US users next week; there is no mention of other regions.
Split Payments is part of the ongoing support for Facebook Pay, which launched in 2019 when Meta was looking for a way to set up a payments system for its many apps. In June 2021, Facebook Messenger added QR codes and payment links for people who want to request or send money through the app.
