Faker is a true veteran in League of Legends, having been playing the game for over 10 years. However, he recently encountered two specific issues that he believes need to be addressed in order to maintain professionalism in esports.
Once you play GOD 🐐
On June 25, T1 released a video, in which several players responded and talked about specific topics. In one of them, Faker mentioned how online DDoSing (attacks that aim to disconnect players from their current games) and personal attacks are still problems and should be addressed by Riot Games as soon as possible.
“Online streams and personal attacks will continue to exist, and it’s crucial that these concerns are addressed,” Faker said. “If left unresolved, it could gradually undermine the value of esports.” He didn’t elaborate, but his comments seem to suggest that if this continues, pros will have no ground to test and practice their skills outside of official exhibition matches. And if that happens, the level of competition will decline.
It’s no surprise to hear that Faker has experienced these types of online and in-person attacks. DDoSing has been a problem since the League esports scene started in 2011. Some people probably launch cyberattacks on professional players for their own amusement, others probably have some kind of grudge against them. If you watch Faker’s streams or other T1 players, which regularly take place on Twitch, you’ll see that they’ve been targeted by DDoD attacks.
