Fallout 4 has continued to garner praise since its release in 2015, and with the recent Fallout TV series, the franchise is once again in the spotlight. The timing couldn't be better, as Bethesda also released a major update for Fallout 4. While the update has received mixed reviews as it now affects most mods, many players are relieved to discover that this update eradicates a glitch that was softlocking players. Here's everything you need to know about how the Fallout 4 next gen update fixed the Codsworth Creation Club bug.
Fallout 4 – NEW Update 1.37 Fixes Creation Club & HDR! Full (Patch Notes)
While the Fallout 4 next-gen update wasn’t as kindly received as the developers had hoped, it did introduce a few changes that have helped some players fix a persistent issue. Most notably, the Codsworth Bug, which presented an unexpected barrier to experiencing one of the game’s core quests during the early stages of the game.
It also didn't help that every time a player tried to download and open items from the Creation Club, a bug would be triggered that would cause Codsworth to crash. To avoid this unfortunate situation, players had to delete the items from the Creation Club and reinstall the game.
However, since the next-gen update rolled out, this glitch has been fixed and players have been able to access all other features of the early main missions. At the same time, the Bethesda team took to X (Twitter) to announce: "The #Fallout 4 next-gen update brings a new Quality and Performance mode, widescreen support, and 3 free Creation Club content packs to all players!"
