There are a few DLCs that are currently bugged and causing errors, including crashes. If they don’t cause a full-blown crash, you’ll notice that textures, characters, and objects are purple in Fallout 4 and it can really affect your playtime. As players are looking for a way to fix the issue, this guide will show you the workaround that will allow you to play the game normally again.
WHY SO PURPLE? Fallout 4 Texture Bug
While there is no permanent fix available yet, a patch is coming soon that could potentially fix the issues with the DLC. In the meantime, players are eager for some troubleshooting tips that can temporarily fix the issue and allow them to play. While we’ve tried a lot of things with our PS5, only one option comes to mind that seems to work.
The best way to get rid of the purple characters and objects error in Fallout 4 is to uninstall the DLC packs that may be causing the issue. So far, the Wasteland Workshop DLC, Automatron DLC, and Nuka World are the packs that are currently broken and players will be able to play the game normally if they uninstall these DLCs. While it is annoying to uninstall an expansion you paid for, at least you will be able to play the game normally.
Unfortunately, there are a few mods that can also affect the game along with those DLCs, and it's best to remove them quickly. There are a lot of mods available for the game, so it's hard to pinpoint which ones might be crashing the game or changing textures, so we recommend removing them all while you try to fix the issue.
