The excitement of a new Final Fantasy XIV expansion has the community on the edge of their seats as we’re just two weeks away from the arrival of Dawntrail. But ahead of its launch, the game’s developer has addressed a number of looming issues that could crop up weeks after launch: login queues.
FINAL FANTASY XIV: DAWNTRAIL Teaser Trailer
The Final Fantasy XIV team has detailed in an official statement how they plan to address these issues. They were a major problem when the previous expansion, Endwalker, released in December 2021, and the issues persisted into early 2022. The issues were so bad that at one point Final Fantasy XIV was even unavailable for purchase on multiple stores because new players were unable to log into the game. The team and community are hoping that these issues won’t be as bad for Dawntrail.
The team shared that if players enter a login queue while attempting to access their Final Fantasy XIV world and don't see the queue countdown, it should still work. The game will allow people to enter the game based on where they are in the queue. If someone leaves the queue, they will be moved to the back of the line and will have to start the process over.
There will also be restrictions on Data Center Travel and World Visit Systems to help with the predicted overall congestion. The Japanese, North American, and European data centers will have heavy restrictions, and the team recommends players prepare for these restrictions during Dawntrail's launch.
