Final Fantasy XIV's Field Operations are a strange beast to conquer, and are required content for the Stormblood and Shadowbringers relics, as well as the upcoming Dawntrail expansion.

These are massive campaigns spanning multiple new areas and play by a different set of rules than the rest of FFXIV, forcing players to adapt to a new framework in order to progress to the next phase. They can be intimidating to tackle at first, but between all the exclusive mounts, unlockable hairstyles, and Glamour pieces, the rewards are more than worth getting your foot in the door, even as a new player.

Field Operations, also known as Adventuring Forays, are standalone modules of PVE content set in large quest zones. They have a completely separate leveling system that is unaffected by your actual level in any of the combat jobs (aside from the initial level requirement to unlock the zones in the first place).

Each Field Operation also has a unique set of powerful Duty Actions that aren’t available in regular gameplay. They can alter stats and provide healing, tanking, or damage actions to roles that wouldn’t normally have access to them, making solo play or unconventional party compositions much more viable.
