Among the sweeping changes and exciting new content listed in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail's preliminary patch notes, there's one game-changing upgrade lurking in the Housing and Miscellaneous notes: the notoriously ineffective Blacklist feature will finally be more than just a beefed-up mute button in Patch 7.0.

Currently in FFXIV, if a player posts something, they will be blacklisted and will no longer be posted to chat. They will also not be able to send you private Tells, Trade requests, party invites, or anything else. It will not prevent that player from getting into the same tasks as you, joining a Party Finder group you are in but not hosting, or even entering your private player housing.
According to the preliminary patch notes for version 7.0, several changes are being made to make Blacklisting more effective in combating malicious behavior.
