How to Fix a Broken Defrost Grille Line
There are two types of car defrosters. Detecting and solving these types of problems requires a different process depending on whether it is the front or rear window defroster that is no longer working.
When you turn on your windshield defroster, the HVAC mixing door moves to direct air out of the dashboard vents. Sometimes turning on the defroster can also automatically activate the air conditioning.
If a windshield defroster stops working, it is usually a faulty switch or blend door if air is coming out of the other vents, or a faulty blower motor if no air is coming out of the vents. If air is coming out of the vents but it is cold even with the heat turned up and the A/C off, there is a problem with the cooling system.
