First Descendant players' matchmaking prayers were answered today after Nexon announced that it will be implementing changes to player pairings for Hard Mode activities including Infiltration Operations and Void Intercepts.

The First Descendant – HUGE PATCH! Update 1.0.7 All changes, buffs and more!

Nexon confirmed that public matchmaking is on the way for endgame activities in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on July 9, as well as a brief statement on The First Descendant's Discord server. It comes after days of complaints from fast-paced players who'd reached the difficult but rewarding Dungeons after the main story, only to realize there was no matchmaking system in place, forcing them to connect with other players via world chat or third-party apps.

Nexon developers are also planning further optimization updates and have said that they hear complaints from the community. "We know that optimization issues are often discussed. We are investigating the issue thoroughly and also continuously preparing patches," wrote one Nexon developer. No timeline has been given for the updates yet, but many are just happy to know that their voices are being heard.

“It’s encouraging to see the developers are listening,” one player said on Reddit following the announcement, while others believe it will extend the game’s lifespan, as many who enjoyed the rush of The First Descendant encountered a roadblock when it came to endgame activities on Hard Mode without an easy matchmaking system.
