Fitbit is getting a number of new updates that measure sound while you sleep, including loud noise and snore detection.
Fitbit Rolls Out 'Snoring & Noise Detection' Feature to Sense, Versa 3 Smartwatches. How Do I Enable It?
The Snoring & Noise Detection feature, which was initially spotted by 9to5Google and later confirmed by Fitbit, is coming soon to the Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3. The microphone on these devices measures and collects sound data after your Fitbit detects that you're sleeping.
The feature detects two things: how loud or soft a sound is, and snore-specific sounds. So even if you’re not the one snoring and it’s your partner making the noise, Fitbit will measure whether their snoring is interfering with your overall sleep quality. A morning “Snoring Report” shows you all the details about whether and how the noise in your sleeping environment is affecting your sleep.
However, Fitbit notes that this particular feature uses more battery than other features and recommends charging your Fitbit device to at least 40% before going to bed. You'll also need a Fitbit Premium subscription to access this feature on your device, which costs $10 per month or $80 per year.
