One thing Fortnite has been lacking over the years has now been fixed with the introduction of Ranked Mode. You can now participate in a competitive mode and earn ranks based on how well you perform. As you progress through the ranks, you start at Bronze and can progress all the way up to Unreal, the highest rank achievable. There are some basic rules you should know beforehand, however.

First, players can switch between unranked and ranked matches while selecting a match. Both Battle Royale and Zero Build modes support Ranked Play. If you are playing Battle Royale, Ranked Play can be enabled in Solo, Duo, Trio, and Squad matches. And for Zero Build, only Solo, Duo, Squad matches support Ranked Play.
For someone new to Fortnite, they will have to compete against 500 opponents before they unlock Ranked Play. Veterans will get it unlocked and will have to play one Ranked match to reveal their initial Rank in Fortnite. Your past performance will also be taken into consideration before you are assigned a Rank.
