The Marvel era of Fortnite is upon us, and the developer has finally released the trailer for the upcoming season, Absolute Doom, proving that the battle royale still has plenty in store for fans to cherish their favorite Marvel memories.

After the D23 livestream ended on August 11, the Fortnite developers revealed several superheroes such as War Machine, Shuri, Mysterio, Emma Frost and more taking to the stage to battle Doctor Doom, who appears to be the antagonist for the next season. The trailer wasn’t all gunpowder and action though, as there is a central story that builds up the lore of Fortnite.

After Doctor Doom sabotages Megalo Don's mission to refuel the ship in the live event, the trailer's opening shot shows Doctor Doom absorbing the powers of Pandora's Box and freeing Mysterio from a Stronghold to team up with another Marvel villain. Captain Jonesy is also seen in the trailer as he recruits superheroes such as Peelverine, X-Men, and Fantastic Four members to help prepare for Doctor Doom's evil plans.

Of course, the season will also revolve around weapons and mythic powers. The trailer previewed some old mythic powers, such as Iron Man’s repulsors, Captain America’s shield, and Doctor Doom’s mythic powers, while also adding exciting new powers such as Shuri’s Black Panther mythic, War Machine’s Arsenal, which should spice up the gameplay experience. Additionally, Iron Man’s Rifle, Dual Micro SMGs, and many more weapons are coming to the game to shake up the meta.
