Bungie is once again handing out free bundles of Bright Dust in Destiny 2 after another element of The Final Shape's Pathfinder bounty system failed to capture the player base. From restrictive activities to a lack of rewards, it's becoming increasingly clear that the system is in need of an overhaul.
IT'S FINALLY HERE! FREE Bright Dust! + NEW Lunar Cosmetics! – Season of Wishing
Destiny 2 players will be able to collect 350 Bright Dust from Eva Levante each week for the next two months, helping out those looking to nab some Eververse goodies without spending real money. It’s a response to the less-than-expected currency being offered through Pathfinder, the game’s new bounty and challenge system. “Players aren’t earning as much Bright Dust as we expected,” Destiny 2 community lead dmg04 said today.
“We wanted to get ahead of this and release a compensation to catch people up, as there were no intentions to reduce XP or Bright Dust earning rates,” he added, noting that more details were planned in the game's weekly blog post, which was subsequently delayed a week due to Bungie's recent layoffs on August 2.
It’s yet another mistake for Pathfinder, which Bungie hyped for The Final Shape as the new hub for bounty and rewards. However, feedback on the system has been far too bad, with Destiny players being stymied by completing challenges on activities they don’t actually want to play, calling it a waste of time.
