A convenient way to get information about your network
Free WiFi Scanner & Channel Scanner for Windows (WLAN Scanner)
Looking for a quick way to scan all the WiFi networks in your area and see what channels they are running on? How about other info like SSID, MAC address, signal strength, company name, etc.? Nirsoft has released a new free tool called WifiInfoView that gives you detailed information about all the wireless networks around you.
When you download it, you can simply double-click to run the program, there is no need to install it. This is very convenient because you can copy it to a USB drive or upload it to your Dropbox folder and run it on any computer from anywhere.
The main interface will automatically start listing all the wireless networks that the program finds. As you can see, it contains very detailed information and you can add more columns if you want. By default, you can see the SSID along with the signal strength in green bars, MAC address, PHY type (a/b/g/n), signal quality, frequency (2GHz or 5GHz), channel, and company (D-Link, Netgear, etc.). You can also choose other columns, including router model, router name, security, first detection, last detection, and detection count.
