At last year’s Meta Connect event, the company teased a VR headset codenamed Project Cambria , and now more details have finally surfaced.
Project Cambria Preview – Mixed Reality with Presence Platform
The company showed off some of the neat features coming with the headset in an official YouTube video. The biggest new tool? Project Cambria headsets support full-color, highly detailed pass-through. In comparison, current Meta Quest 2 headsets only offer an extremely grainy black-and-white pass-through for real-world viewing during use.
The emphasis on that full-color pass-through leads us into the next Cambria innovation, a robust set of mixed reality applications. The video shows several demos of the headset in use to augment reality, from designing commercial products to playing games with friends.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also shared a video of himself donning a Cambria headset and playing with a virtual pet in an upcoming mixed reality experience called The World Beyond.
