G2 Esports kicked off its Counter-Strike 2 roster last week by removing Rifler Nexa, but the organization quickly secured his replacement with Guatemalan superstar Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa, who was announced as the team’s new fifth player on June 28.

It wasn’t a well-kept secret, but the 21-year-old rifler has been officially revealed as G2’s newest member after “passing his exam” yesterday. The Guatemalan took to X (formerly Twitter) following the announcement to say he was eager to get started with his new teammates. “I still can’t believe this happened, but I’m more ready than ever to grind and become a better player and person than I was,” he said, taking a moment to thank his old team M80.

MalbsMd has been competing in Counter-Strike since 2016, having been involved with Infinity Esports and Team oNe before joining North American organization M80. It was here that he really shined, helping to establish the team as a top contender in the region, even defeating the likes of NRG and Team Liquid in international qualifiers.
