G2's incredible eight-event play-off run in Counter-Strike 2 is on the line as the IEM Dallas champions head into this week's BLAST Premier Spring Final without star player AWPer m0NESY, who is unable to travel to the UK due to a visa issue.
Another m0NESY pairing to save G2
The organization announced that coach TaZ would be joining the server with the team in a June 10 post on X (formerly Twitter), replacing the star AWPer for BLAST Spring Finals. The team will once again have to defy the odds with a stand-in if they hope to keep their playoff streak alive, with G2 having reached the finals of every offline CS2 tournament they've competed in since the sequel's launch last September.
The G2 social team joked that they wanted to "repeat the success of Dallas", where the team won the tier-one event despite the absence of captain HooXi, who was attending his sister's wedding. With Stewie2K, shot-caller NiKo led the team to their first victory in CS2. However, the absence of wunderkind m0NESY might be a step too far for G2 this time around.
The 19-year-old Russian sniper is the standout player of 2024, with a remarkable 1.34 HLTV rating on 70 LAN maps this year. According to many experts, only Vitality’s ZywOo comes close individually. As a result, the Russian’s absence will leave a large hole that many will find difficult to fill by the Polish coach, who last played competitively on the server with HONORIS in March 2023.
