Caps and company successfully recovered from a setback in the upper division and continued their great run in the LEC, once again at the expense of eternal bridesmaids Fnatic, who looked stronger than ever in the LEC Summer Split play-off, but still fell to their rivals at the last moment.
LEC Summer Playoffs 2024 – Grand Final – FNC vs G2
Another LEC Split, another G2 win, and while the identity of the challengers continues to change, the final boss of European League of Legends remains the same. Fnatic challenged throughout the playoffs, defying the expectations set by their fourth-place finish in the regular season and powering their way into the playoffs, but if their upper-bracket win over G2 a few days ago seemed like a harbinger of things to come, that was far from the case.

The two teams played out a cracker of an upper-bracket final on July 22nd, with Fnatic ultimately prevailing 3-2, leaving G2 in the doldrums for a match against Team BDS, a challenge they quickly rose to with a 3-1 victory. Tonight’s replay saw revenge handed out in the most spectacular fashion, with a 3-0 victory that can only be described as the fruit of a serious mental block, perhaps developed during the unforgettable Spring Split final.
