After the first action-packed phase in the global VALORANT competitive scene, the 12 best teams in the world finally collide at VCT Masters Shanghai 2024. And today, the competition kicked off with one of the most exciting international rivalries that spans multiple titles: G2 vs. T1.
Similar to their League of Legends matchup at MSI 2024, today’s clash at Masters Shanghai did not disappoint. Kicking off the tournament on Breeze, where turns were swapped back and forth, T1 initially took the lead on their perceived best map. However, after the side swap, G2 dominated the sandy shores of Breeze and eventually claimed the first map of the tournament.
T1 struck back at Icebox and dominated G2 with a near perfect map score. T1 collected 11 rounds on the offensive side, with G2 winning only one as their opponent got too aggressive and slipped. But even on the defensive side, T1 won two consecutive rounds and won 13-1 to even the match score and take it to a deciding third game.
