Popular smartwatch manufacturer Garmin has revealed a potential solution to this problem with the launch of the Instinct 2 Solar smartwatch, according to a press release from the company.
Garmin says the Instinct 2 Solar can be powered entirely by the sun, meaning its battery life could potentially last indefinitely. The company adds that these watches can run continuously with all features enabled, without the need for wall charging, with one important caveat.
The Instinct 2 Solar line requires three hours of direct sunlight (50,000 lux) per day to maintain this sustained battery life, which may be easier said than done for some. According to Garmin, a normal day of sunshine should be sufficient, but this largely depends on how often you're outside and your local weather conditions.
